Simple Stripes

Sweater: Garnet Hill c/o  |  Trousers: Banana Republic Factory  |  Bag: Alexander Wang  |  Shoes: Call It Spring via JCPenney c/o  |  Earrings: Kendra Scott  |  Watch: MVMT c/o (use code hannahhagler for $10 off)

We have had a few days of rain here the past couple of days so I immediately reached for this cozy striped sweater when getting ready for work yesterday.  I think I am officially spoiled by this sweater because a non-cashmere sweater will never feel the same!  I will never quit my love for cheap Target sweaters but honestly, if you are thinking about getting a cashmere sweater I think it is really worth the splurge.  The fit is perfect  as well - I usually look like a box in sweaters but this one is really feminine and flattering.

I have also found my new favorite black pumps that will take you anywhere; from the office to the red carpet.  Speaking of the red carpet, did you guys catch the Oscars this weekend?  I love seeing what the stars wear on the red carpet and feel it can be really telling for what trends are to come in the coming year.  My black pumps are from JCPenney and are such a hidden gem.  JCPenney partnered with Nina Garcia to predict his year's Oscar red carpet trends; she predicted canary yellow, metallics, classic red, metallic & classic accessories, and jewel toned jewelry.  I think she hit the nail on the head don't you?  I think red certainly had a moment last night (can we talk about Rosamund Pike?)

The last piece I want to point out is my watch from MVMT Watches.  The camera cannot even do this watch justice.  It has the most beautiful opal pearlescent type face which catches the sunlight and changes colors depending on the movement of your wrist.  I am in love with the neutral leather band because it goes with absolutely everything.

Off The Shoulder

Happy Monday Friends!  I hope you guys had a great weekend.  We kept things pretty relaxed on our end - I had dinner and saw a movie with one of my best friends and Jesse and I took the dogs to the park on Saturday.  It was good timing because it started raining here on Sunday.  The weather is so moody lately, which is why I have been steering towards seasonally transitional outfits like this one.

I have been seeing the off-the-shoulder trend a lot lately and I am a big fan.  I think it's such a fun way to show a bit of skin but still keep things modest. This particular top is from Forever21 so it's extremely affordable and you won't be bummed if the trend goes out of style.  I love that it has a drawstring hem so you can control where it hits you and how figure-forming you want it to be.

Black & White

Dress: Forever21  |  Shoes: Shoedazzle (OBSESSED with these)  |  Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim  |  Watch: MVMT Watches c/o (use code "hannahhagler" for $10 off)  |  Earrings: Gorjana

It's safe to say I have a thing for dresses with collars.  I ordered this dress online, and while I don't ever really know what to expect when ordering things online, I was utterly impressed with the quality.  The quality reminded me of something I would find at ASOS or Zara, not so much F21.  Also the fit is absolutely perfect on me, which is hard to find at 5'3.  That being said, if you are tall I recommend sizing up because it is pretty short.

On another note, it's Friday!  I can't believe how fast February is flying by.  I have a few plans with friends but other than that I'm looking forward to a low-key weekend with the dogs (such a grandma!).  What are you guys up to this weekend?  Any fun plans or trips?

Pillow Talk

While decorating our place, I have been extraordinarily picky about the pillows.  It seems like a silly thing to be picky about since you can change pillows out whenever, but in the living room especially I felt that the pillows were going to tie the room together and be a big focal point.  The couch is the first thing you see when you walk into our place so it definitely makes a statement.  I searched forever for the perfect pillows and it has literally taken me up until now (we've been here for  almost 8 months now) to find exactly what I was looking for.

The black pillow in the back is from Z Gallerie, and they are a splurge.  Luckily I had gift cards so it didn't sting quite as bad.  The front blue pillow case is from etsy and I really needed the blue to tie in a blue bench I have in the room.

By far my favorite pillow that the couch could not be complete with is my Arianna Belle Channels Ebony & Ivory pillow (c/o).  I bought the insert on Amazon (I always buy my pillow inserts at least 1-2 inches bigger than the actual pillow case so that it stays full without constant fluffing).

I could not be more in love with the grey abstract pattern on the Arianna Belle pillow.  Because it's neutral, patterned, and not too busy, I know this will be a constant pillow even if I switch out the others.  It honestly goes with any pattern you can think of.

Adding the pillows has made me feel like the living room is almost complete.  I have one corner that feels incomplete, and a mirror for the mantle to find, but once I figure out that it will be pretty much done.  I actually ordered a chair for the corner and it came in so much larger than expected - it was overpowering my couch, and my couch is pretty big!  Unfortunately I learned my lesson in buying furniture online -- don't do it.  It was not convenient to ship back and was quite stressful.

What do you guys think about pillows?  Do you place a lot of importance on finding the perfect ones or do you switch them out frequently?

Overalls

sheinside navy criss cross strap split jumpsuit sheinside navy jumpsuit old navy black and white striped turtleneck alexander wang rocco bag in oyster and gold sheinside blue jumpsuit overalls
Overalls/Jumpsuit: Sheinside  |  Turtlneck: Old Navy (on major sale - under $10!)  |  Earrings: Tory Burch  |  Bangles: Bauble Bar  |  Shoes: JustFab (similar black mule heels)  |  Bag: Alexander Wang  |  Lipstick: LORAC Jetsetter

I haven't been able to 100% commit to the overall trend train, but I loved finding this overall/jumpsuit piece; it has the fun spirit of overalls with a more tailored look.  I'm also a big fan of anything cropped at the ankles that actually hits me above the ankles.

I won't hold my breath but this might be the last time I wear a turtleneck this season - we have been getting some warm weather around these parts!  It's funny how whenever it's summer, we're ready for winter, and whenever it's winter, we're ready for summer.  We humans are so hard to please!

Do you guys have any fun plans for Valentine's day?  J and I usually keep things pretty low key so I am sure we will do the same this time around.  I do have a pending Valentine's date with my girlfriends to see 50 Shades of Grey hopefully next week, although I am already expecting it to be horrible.  Jesse and I are pretty serious when it comes to Rotten Tomatoes reviews, and things aren't looking too great for it.  I will say it's fun to see silly movies from time to time, so I'm still looking forward to it.
