5 Ways To Beat The Heat

While summer is nearing it’s end for a few of us, we still have a few more weeks left of it here in California (or maybe all year long, but we like to pretend that we have some semblance of a winter).  Nonetheless, I’m super excited to partner with Dove for this post to bring you my 5 favorite ways to beat the heat in the summer.  Keep reading to find out, and let me know in the comments if you’ve tried any of these!
1. Aloe Vera Ice Cubes
If you’re anything like me, you always stay in the sun a little longer than you should. I have a hard time realizing I’m getting a burn until it’s too late. Even if you don’t have a sunburn, but spent a long day in the sun, it’s good to apply some aloe vera as it repairs dead skin cells and moisturizes.

I like to squeeze some aloe vera into an ice cube tray and put it in the freezer, so it’s ready to go when I need it.

2. Use An Antiperspirant
In the summer when I know I’m going to be outside all day, I use Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant because I know I won’t have to worry about getting sweaty or smelly. Sometimes you just want reliable, you know what I mean? I put this on in the morning before I leave and I never have to worry about reapplying because it offers 48 hours of odor and wetness protection. The NutriumMoisture formula is great because it is supposed to give softer, smoother underarms. I use the unscented, hypoallergenic version because I have sensitive skin.

3. Eat Hydrating Snacks
Seems like a silly tip, but I find eating watermelon as a snack during the summer is a super hydrating, delicious way to get some extra fiber and water in.

My favorite way to eat watermelon is the easiest way — cut it in half, scoop out a hole in the watermelon, and fill it with fresh squeezed lime juice and passion fruit. (The three flavors combined is something magical, promise). Then I just eat with a spoon poolside.

4. DIY Lip Scrub
It’s almost a guarantee that I will have chapped lips in the summer, so I love using a DIY lip scrub to get rid of the dead skin on my lips. Chapped lips can be uncomfortable and painful and can even lead to cold sores that are even more irritating. It’s best to use a sort of ointment that is able to reduce both chapped lips and cold sores, like the stuff that you can find at https://quantumhealth.com/shop/product/lipclear-lysine-ointment-7g. However, if you’ve got a minor case of chapped lips, you can always make a DIY version. The best part is everything can be found in your cupboard – just use coconut oil and brown sugar – mix it into a little bowl, apply to your lips, and then scrub off with water.

5. DIY Cooling Spray
I just discovered this DIY cooling spray this year, and I’m hooked! All you do is fill a spray bottle with water and add a few drops of peppermint essential oils. Spray some all over when you’re feeling overheated, or just when you want that cooling feeling. The peppermint gives a cooling, calming sensation and it smells amazing.

While you are in the sun you need to safe your skin from the harmful rays of the sun. These harmful rays of the sun might cause dark spots and early signs of aging. For this you have to put sunscreen or any type of lotion that can save your skin from sunrays.
