Choosing J’s Office Paint Color

Woo hoo!  Here we are with the first house post of many.  Things are coming quite along in the paint department and I can’t wait to share the details with you!  We’re going with neutrals in most of the house, but decided to put some color in the office/guest bedroom.

Because J works from home a lot, the office is mothership of the new place.  It is essential that it’s both comfortable, inspiring, and sophisticated for when he might have clients or employees over.

Our old apartment office was a bluish grey color, that we both loved, but also felt like we should try something new.  We picked up 5 samples from Lowe’s in the new Valspar Reserve.

J was happy to stick with grey, but I’m always wanting to try new things when it comes to decor.  I was hoping for something a more definite blue or green, so a compromise was in order for both of us.

Right now we are on the hunt for an industrial style l-shaped desk with reclaimed wood (let me know if you know where to find one!), and want to give the room a rustic/modern look.  I’m wanting a color scheme of dark blues, greens, greys, and will .incorporate natural woods and touches of brass.

We sampled Valspar Cannon Gray, Valspar Relaxed Navy, Valspar Newport Gray, Valspar Prussian Cadet, and Valspar Perfect Storm.

If you’ve ever tried to take pictures of paint, you know the colors don’t read 100% on camera as they do in real life, but this is the best I could do. The picture doesn’t do the paint justice but take my word for it, that they are all extremely bold, pigmented, and inviting.  I wish I had more rooms and walls and could use them all in some form or fashion.

We’ve actually already made up our mind, but you’ll have to stay tuned to see which one we chose!  Nonetheless, I’d love to hear which color is your favorite, and also your guesses on which one you think we picked!

This project was brought to you in partnership with Valspar.  Thank you for supporting the sponsors that make this blog possible!
